If wanting to work in Psychiatry, what would you go to school for?

I was at a hospital a few days ago and saw a children's psychiatric ward thing, and decided that's what I'd like to do with the rest of my life. My parents told me I'd have to go to school for psychology. I was just wondering if they're correct or not? Anything you know about any of this, please tell me!
