Taking antidepressants after surgery?

I will be having hammertoe surgery at the end of this month. I have an appointment for mid July to see a psychiatrist who will more than likely proscribe me antidepressants. Will I be okay to take antidepressants after surgery if I am on painkillers and antibiotics? or do antidepressants not mix well with the medications one has to take after surgery? I am trying to decide if I should cancel my psychiatry appt. and I don't know what to do.
