PA program and nursing advice?

I am planning to become a PA. I have already taken a lot of bio and chem and college alg. In order to become a PA though, you have to have medical experience and a bachelors. I am not sure how to go about getting this. I was thinking getting my BSN then working as a nurse in psychiatry, which I am very interested in. My friends mom did this and she is thinking about going into the PA program and said it would be a good route to take. Any advice?? preferably from a nurse or a PA or doc?
